Question I have 36 acres of land on Toledo Bend Lake on the border of Sabine and Desoto Parish. Original owner has mineral rights. If I hold the land for 10 years I understand any new gas activity reverts to me in regard to mineral rights. There are currently 2 active gas wells near me. I take it that as long as they are producing or deemed active the former owner keeps any rights. What would it take for me to get the rights? A complete shutdown of activity after I have the land for 10 years and starting up again at the old site? There are no wells on my land. Thanks alot.
Answer This is not really my area of expertise, but I have a friend who is a landman in Louisiana; his name is Robert Bennett and his number is 337-984-5299, e-mail is r.bennett3@cox.net , feel free to call him or e-mail him with your question.
