Question my father played on the first boston celtics team from 1946-1952. in fact he was known as the original celtic. his name was arthur spector. my son is doing a report on the history of the boston celtics and we only have one book written by george sullivan. do you have any info you can give us, ie web sites, books or personal knowledge

Answer Arthur "Art" Spector was indeed one of the "original Celtics", as he was part of the franchise's initial roster (1946-47) back when the NBA was known as the Basketball Association of America ... However, he only played four seasons with the Green (up until 1949-50), not 1952.
Wearing jersey number 12, Spector appeared in 169 games for the Celtics, averaging 4.1 points and 2.9 assists per game.
