The Lieutenant of Inishmore

Book cover (Methuen)

The Lieutenant of Inishmore is a black comedy by playwright Martin McDonagh, who wrote the Tony award winning play, The Pillowman, which played at the Booth Theatre from April to September of 2005.

The Lieutenant of Inishmore is now playing on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre, Broadway's smallest playhouse.

The play is a bloody comedy about a ruthless and violent Irish Liberation Army enforcer and the only thing in the world he really loves...his little black cat Wee Thomas.
