Ibrahim B. Syed is an American muslim born in Bellary, South India to Mr B Syed Ahmed and Mrs. Mumtaz Begum. Received his academic education at the University of Mysore, Bhabha Atomic Research Center(Bombay University), Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where he obtained his Doctor of Science degree in 1972 in Radiological Sciences. At present he is serving as President of the Islamic Research Foundation, located in Louisville, Kentucky. He contributes regularly to the Science and Health page in the Muslim Journal published from Chicago. He has published over 85 articles on Qur'an and Science in several Islamic Magazines in North America and other Muslim countries.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, a Fellow of the British Institute of Physics, a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Health Physics and serving as an Examiner for both the Boards. He served as a Technical Expert in Nuclear Medicine for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) located in Vienna, Austria with field missions to the Islamic Republic of Bangladesh and the Republic of Guatemala in Central America. He served as an expert in Radiological Physics under the United Nations Development Programme and visited premiere postgraduate Medical Institutions in India for a period of two months.

He is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA(54th Ed., 2000), WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD, AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN OF SCIENCE, WHO'S WHO IN THE FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, WHO'S WHO IN MEDICINE AND HEALTH, WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN EDUCATION, WHO'S WHO IN RELIGION, and in more than a dozen national and international Biographical Works of Reference. Dr. Syed is an educator and currently he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine (Medical Physics and Nuclear Cardiology) at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, Kentucky. He is a founding member and member of many Islamic Organizations in North America. He served many Muslim communities as a Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President including the Association of Muslim Scientists and Engineers of North America. He is a Founder and currently President of the Islamic Research Foundation International Inc., located in Louisville, Kentucky.

He is a prolific writer and has published over 100 articles chapters, books on topics related to his profession. He has also written about 300 articles on a multitude of Islamic subjects particularly on "Qur'an and Science" that are available to read at http://www.irfi.org . His book "Intellectual Achievements of the Muslims", was published in 2002. The other books titled "Qur'anic Inspirations"(Quran and Science) Part I and II will be published in the future. He is the World's Foremost Exponent for the interpretation of Qur'an Majid in the light of modern knowledge.
