Ai Iijima

Ai Iijima

Ai Iijima (飯島愛 Iijima Ai), real name Mitsuko Ishii (石井光子 Ishii Mitsuko), born 31 October 1972) is a Japanese media personality. In her late teens, she appeared on late night television as a "T-back girl", a girl wearing a skimpy thong (the "T" refers to the shape of the rear part of the thong). She would also make some appearances topless or under short skirts. Her stage name was chosen by a fan survey.

She later became an adult video star. She quit the porn business at the age of 20. After this, she crossed over into mainstream television variety shows, one of the few tarento so far to successfully make such a transition. She is now an established celebrity on Japanese television, appearing in travel, lifestyle, game shows, and quiz shows.

In 2000 she published Platonic Sex, a semi-autobiographical novel about a young girl leaving home to escape her parents and ending up as an adult movie star. The book was turned into a television series and a theatrical movie and is a bestseller in Japan.
